Another weekend passed with some incredible driving at Donington Park – the home of the second race meeting of the British Touring Car Championships (BTCC). The Halfords Yuasa Racing – sponsored by Nextbase dash cams – duo of Matt Neal and Gordon Shedden continued their good early start at Brands Hatch with a superb one-two in the final race of the day. In doing so, the team packed up knowing that they led the constructors championship, thanks to having two drivers leading the rest of the pack.

“Being championship leaders and with the associated success ballast, we came into this weekend knowing we would need to play a longer-term game. Our aim was to save the best ‘til last – and that’s exactly what we did." said Matt Neal. After qualifying fourth (Shedden) and ninth (Neal), the drivers knew that a true battle was ahead of them, but that race-by-race things would get easier. Gordon Shedden added, “It was very difficult in race one, but we kept our noses clean in race two to very nearly nick a late podium and then the car felt great in race three. We just had to bide our time until the soft tyres on the cars ahead faded, which we knew they would do. It was fantastic to end the weekend with a one-two finish.”

True enough, both drivers took full advantage of the race three and its reversed grid format which saw them eventually end the day as 1st and 2nd on the podium. Two down, but many more twists and turns (excuse the pun) to take. A trip to classic, and much loved Thruxton is next.

Halfords Yuasa BTCC team dons another trophy! Well done, gents.
